Guest Post :: Katy from Designs by Katy

Hello Mich Mix readers! I'm Katy Byrne from DBK: Designs By Katy. I'm an interior designer from Denver, Colorado and a new major fan of the Mich Mix. Fashion blogging is a tough gig, but Michelle's clean edgy look always knocks it out of the park. I look forward to her daily read. Today I'm going to share how to get the same edgy look for your interior.

DBK B&W Living Room

Shop the Living Room: Chair, Sofa, Rug, Coffee Table, Moroccan Pouf, Nate Berkus Bowl, End Table, Metal "M", Antelope, Art, Floor Lamp, Table Lamp, & Pillow

For me, this living room all starts with the bold rug. Combining that with classic upholstery pieces like this sofa from Crate & Barrel, this chair from West Elm, and some beautiful art: voila. A bold living area without selling out to trend. From there, I would grow the scheme with this kitchen:

DBK B&W Kitchen Scheme

Once again the black and white scheme with bold classics makes for beautiful design. I'm loving the unique Ann Sacks Swiss Cross backsplash paired with the simple shaker cabinets and Caesarstone countertops. Cap it off with a herringbone wood floor and corresponding shelves for higher storage and you have the perfect kitchen. Finally, we top off the black and white scheme with this bedroom:

DBK B&W Bedroom Revised

Shop the Bedroom: Nightstand, Bed, Desk, Rug, Chair, Desk Chair, Pouf 1, Pouf 2, Chandelier, Art 1, Art 2, Mirror, Table Lamp, "M" Pillow

Beautiful right? Who says classic can't be bold? Thanks so much for having me, Michelle! Don't forget to come visit me at DBK!
