hospital ready

Bag :: Longchamp // Sneaks :: Nike

I'm ready as I'll ever be. When Baby Nance gives the warning signs that he is about to make his debut we are ready to hit the road. My hospital bag is packed and is waiting by the front door. To keep it real, it has been packed for a couple of weeks now. It was making me anxious that it wasn't by the door and I felt better once it was.

For the contents, I did a bit of research. The hospital provided me with a general guideline of recommendations and I did some on-line reading and talked with some mom friends to help me out. Here are my final selections:

1. Toiletries: I have managed to pick up all my daily essentials in travel or sample form. My favorite make-up artist at my local NARS counter was sweet enough to make me some samples of my go to cosmetic products. In addition to my cosmetics bag, I've obviously added my toothbrush, toothpaste, face lotion, face wash, deodorant, hair ties, shampoo and conditioner, ect.

2. Hospital Attire: I've never owned (or appreciated) robes until now. But, it was the most consistent item that was recommended for my hospital stay. My search was interesting since I've never shopped for a robe before. I didn't even know what style, length or material I wanted. So after lots of try ons, I decided on something that I thought I would actually continue to wear once I got home. So, to no surprise, I have picked something black. I've decided on a cashmere long robe {major sale score too!} paired with my favorite nightshirt. I've thrown in a couple pairs of lounge pants and t-shirts too. Also in the bag, are a pair of moccasins and cashmere socks.

3. Electronics: PEN and I love have a sick obsession with our Beats Pill {we may or may not have a couple of them} so there is one in the bag. Probably not necessary, but should be fun. We also threw in an iPad mini and of course the camera

4. Insurance Information and Drivers License: While I have already turned in all my hospital paperwork, it was suggested by a good friend that I make a copy of my insurance card and drivers license in the event that I don't arrive to the hospital as I have it played out in my head.

5. Small Gift for the hospital staff: I thought it would be nice to show appreciation to those who help us during the stay at the hospital. I had a hard time deciding what gift to bring the wonderful nurses and available space in my bag was something to consider. I decided to pick up some Starbucks gift cards and I wrote a cute note from Baby Nance on each one.

6. Going Home Outfits: I didn't pack my own going home outfit (crazy I know.... I plan on my mom or sister bringing it to me), but I can promise it will be oversized and comfortable. I did pack a large selection of outfits to pick from for Baby Nance. Without knowing his size or the weather, I had to give myself options.... obviously. Most options are by Kissy Kissy {more styles here}. And, if the outfit calls for it, I've packed these shearling booties.

7. Car Seat: About a week ago PEN installed Baby N's carseat. Every time I get into the car, I do a double take into the backseat. It makes it all crazy real. But, I am already obsessed with our Nuna Pipa carseat.
